HAA Exempt
On April 17, 2012 The Helena Athletic Association was granted **Tax Exempt Status** from the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Association has been deemed a Public Charity and the exemption is retroactive to the formation date of July 21, 2011. This means all donations received by the Association to date are tax deductible to the donor as well as any future donations.
This tax exempt status ruling is further confirmation of the validity of the Association’s mission to employ the time, talents and resources of our parents, students, teachers, friends, and corporate citizens to develop and improve the infrastructure of the athletic programs within all Helena Schools. Buck Creek Festival
With Helena's big Summer festival being only a week and a day away, I have started being nostalgic. We now have a giant inflatable duck, which you should see popping up all around town but it reminded me of the rejected BCF posters of yesteryear. Love Bug Pageant
There is pageant to help Helena resident Reilly Montgomery. She is 11 years old and has survived stage-three kidney cancer and 28 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. Kendal Overton organized the Miss Love Bug Pageant as a fundraiser to support Reilly Montgomery’s Love Bugs Relay for Life team.The pageant, for girls 2 to 18, will be held at Discover United Methodist Church, which is located at 5487 Stadium Trace Parkway in Hoover at 2 p.m. May 5. Tickets will cost $3. All of the proceeds will benefit Reilly’s Love Bugs Relay for Life team. To celebrate the 10 year Anniversary of Bead Biz in Helena,AL. Lora is putting together a lot of events. One of which is a Fashion Forward Foil Contest. It is a wearable Art design contest with the following prizes:
1st place - $300 Bead Biz Gift Card
2nd place- $200 Bead Biz Gift Card
3rd place- $100 Bead Biz Gift Card
Since the Traditional or modern gift for 10 year anniversary is Aluminum or Tin.You can use either one of these items or both.Your wearable item must contain at least one thing from The Bead Biz. Judging will be on-line via Facebook and other social media. We will be collecting vote at $1.00 a vote on-line with the proceeds going to Safe House of Shelby County. Your wearable item can be anything but, it must be wearable. It can be shoes, jewelry, clothing, purse, hat. Just use your imagination. She provided two examples:Example 1 and Example 2.
Friday May 18th is the deadline to bring your item to the Bead Biz for a photo or email your own photo to lora@thebeadbiz.com and Friday May 25th- June 1st the Top Ten finalist wearable item will be on display at LaReunion Coffee Shop in Old Town Helena. ( this will give you the opportunity to gain extra votes)
They will have a Big Anniversary party June 1st at LaReunion at 7:00 pm and the Winner will be announced at 8:30pm. Good Luck!
