Helena Class of 2025
This is the Helena Picture of the Day. Jennifer shared this on my facebook page. It is the Helena's class of 2025 in front of their future Helena High School. This is Epic! This may win Helena Picture of the Year. Great idea and kudos for the parents for thinking of this. It would be cool if they come back in the year 2025 and stand in the same poses. Way to go!
Scouting Night
My son and daughters came up through the Helena Scouting programs. I was able to enjoy all the fun from cookie sales to the pinewood derby. It is nice to see the local programs are still going strong. Tonight (Thurs 30th) it will be Scouting Night in Helena.
The Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts programs will be at Helena Elementary School at 6:30pm with information on how to join in the cafeteria. You can stop by and see all the programs and activities, You can also ask questions and get some flyers. Scouting is fun, builds great character traits, and it's affordable. Helena has one of the best scouting programs in the State!
If you can't make it then you can still find out more by emailing:

Election and Poll
The election for the council is over. Two Council members were re-elected on Tuesday's Election and there is still a run-off for the Mayor on Oct 9th. It was a big surprise for many but I can honestly say..."You told me so".By You, I mean the readers, who gave their prediction of who they thought would win the election back in July. Some people said it couldn't possibly be accurate, but it came very close...that it is almost spooky. Take a moment to look at back on how everyone on "Who will Win" poll back in July. It is at the very bottom of this page: LINK
South Shades Event
Several people posted on facebook that there were police vehicles heading to South Shades Crest on Tuesday night. One reader confirmed it online at the Shelby County Sheriff DISPATCH LOG. The Sheriff post the calls from their department there and it is a good resource. Anyways, the event that several people were asking about was covered a Bham News article under the rather provocative headline of "Deputies arrest nude dude"
(on a side note, Be thankful for our police, they are the only city employees who risk their lives at every traffic stop to keep us safe, be thankful for their service)

Yep, Fall is here and that means Flu Shots. The Helena hometown Pharmacy told me that will be giving flu shots next week! Call them today to set up an appointment 205-745-3979 . They are offering them for $25!!
Football
I love driving by the Helena Chevron and seeing their coke artwork in the windows. Jay said that it took 765 packages to create this SEC football logo out of 12 packs. I am ready for some football and for the Autumn. I want to feel cool breezes and smell camp fires. Very Cool Jay!
