I have been on night shifts since 1993, but this week I decide to bid on a day job. So my sleeping pattern has been strange since I havent been working nights. Maybe I will finally move to days... but if not ...I will still be here in the middle of the night for you. The real next big life decision for me starts at November when I take office as Helena City Council. I need to do something good in 1,460 days.
HMS Wins
Congrats to both Helena Middle School teams who came home with wins from Oxford!
Sean was telling me about them cutting back the trees in Old Town and also shared a conversation with the State Engineers from last week. They were planning on repaving the streets of Old Town Helena this week but the anticipation of the Hurricane Issac switched their focus south. He said they would start repaving Old Town soon and they would also modify the sidewalks to make them ADA compliance.

Each weekend of the football season Home Plate Cooking will be offering different tailgate items that will help you so you don't have to stress out about what to eat. Snap Yoga

At the August meeting Blane McPeake was elected to complete the term of Gretchen Birdwell. Thanks Gretchen for all your time and efforts in helping the Association Grow. Welcome Blane as a new Board Member and the Chairman of our Marketing Committee.
Logo Contest
We have a new logo for the association. By a majority vote of the members present we adopted the logo to the left from approximately 20 options. We are making plans to have this logo available to be placed on shirts and other marketing material.
Cash Mob
We have our first business to participate in the Cash Mob event - The BeadBiz. There will be an update for everyone at the September meeting on how this will work. We are looking for volunteers for additional cash mob events.
Shelby Blues and BBQ
This is a great event coming to our Helena Amphitheater. David, Cris, and newly elected councilman Mike Jones were instrumental in bringing this fall event to our city. The HBA will be recognized in the Shelby Chamber of Commerce promotions. We will be sponsoring the adult beverage booth.
Scarecrow Contest
We will be discussing the scarecrow contest to be held during the month of October. Similar to the wreath contest we held last year at Christmas time but this year it will be a scarecrow contest.
The contest rules will be discussed at the September meeting. This will be a fun way to promote your business. The grand prize is well worth your time investment to participate.
New Meeting Location
Due to the closing of La Reunion Coffee Cafe we are moving our meeting location this month to Frankie's Market Cafe located on Highway 52 (Morgan Road) across from Golden Rule BBQ. We will discuss rotating our meeting to other Helena businesses.
Let's all turn out and participate in conducting the business of your association.
