Council, Business, Sports, Starlett, and Ruby

New Council Work Session
There was a lot of material covered during the work session of the new council, here are a few things that stood out in my mind.
  • Changing the weeks that city council meets to the 1st and 3rd week of the month.
  • Setting up council committees like Parks and Rec, Public Safety, etc
  • The transition to a form of gov't where the Mayor and Council are separated.
  • Mark Hall offered to take a reduced salary if he is also on the water board
  • Extending the budget and committee appointed until they can be reviewed
  • Who owns a the City Website and where does it reside.
  • A discussion about the department heads and budgets
and future priorities for the city. There was a question about what money is being spent prior to the new government taking office which I thought was important. Overall it was productive first work session. We will have another work session in two weeks, then on Nov. 5th everyone gets sworn into office.

HMS Sport Updates
Thanks to Ken Peoples for theses support updates that he releases to everyone:

Helena 8th Grade Panthers exterminate the Chelsea Hornets football team beating them 37-14 in an awesome offensive showing.  The attack was led by quarterback, Riley Davis, who was on point in his passing game. John Brown, Nash Adams, Devon Walker and Austin Davis all scored for the Panthers in a balanced win of great quarterback play and an effective and impressive run game by the backs.  Panther defense held strong disrupting the Hornets offensive schemes. Panthers remain undefeated on the season with one game left next week.

The 7th Grade Panthers fall short losing 14-13 to the Hornets.  The team left it all on the field with Landon Green, quarterbacking, and throwing touchdown passes to Justin Stuckey and Trevor Bell. On a great defensive play, Seth Jolley layed out to block a field goal to give the Panthers the opportunity to score with the clock running down but the Hornets defense held tight to pull out the victory.

I regret missing such a good council meeting.
Just out of curiosity, did the meeting last over 6 mins? Seems like a lot of great information was covered.
I would like to encourage our citizens to try to attend as often as possible.
I look forward to attending again soon. In the meantime, I appreciate all of your post.
