Cherokee Beach 50th Anniversary
Here's some Helena History... Many of you have seen the Cherokee Campground sign in Helena as you drive down Morgan road (Hwy 52 West). At the back of the campground there used to be a major resort. It was the place to be on Sundays in the 60s and 70s. They would have live bands and the beach would be packed.
Becky Parr contacted me and told me that they are planning a 50th Anniversary for Cherokee Beach on Co Rd 93. It will be on this Saturday, Oct 6th from 10:00am-3:00pm with Carl Simonetti as the DJ. He will be playing music that they used to hear at the beach in the 60's and 70's. The event is free and attendees should bring blankets and chairs and a picnic lunch.
I drove by lake this past Saturday. The beach part closed in 1987 due to high insurance and maintenance costs. The youngest son, Tommy Littleton still lives there in the family's old summer home. The event should be awesome so if you know someone who used to hang out there.Pass the news along to your Friends who used to be there. They have even set up a facebook page if you want to join and share your memories: http://www.facebook.com/groups/367587815529/
Papa Saia's Fall Fest and Fish Fry
Here is the event poster for the Papa Saia event. I also put it in the Calendar timeline
