Oh sweet mercy, another exciting weekend in Helena! Ok, I will break down the cool and free events for you but first some information that I need to share before I forget. Please email if I left something off or you want to add something.
Zaxby's
I saw a lot of workers at Zaxby on Thursday so I decide to swing by and say "HI". I met George Pickle and Corey Mason there. Corey's father helped build a lot of the neighborhoods in Helena and he was contracted for Zaxby. They said that they were expecting Zaxby to be open by the Helena Christmas Parade on December 1st. So that isn't for certain but an estimate. It still got me excited.

Fox Valley
My son wanted to try the world famous Steak and Cake from Fox Valley in Helena which has been the restaurant of choice from Alabama Senators to Rocks Stars at Oak Mountain concert hall.
You know their crab cakes were ranked in the top places to eat in Alabama before you die.
I was lucky because Owner and Executive Chef Sue Lemieux recognized me and shared a little history of the Fox Valley.
She told me that she was making fine desserts for around 40 restaurants in Birmingham when Danny Griffin was building Fox Valley in Helena in 1987. She went to help him and ended up buying the restaurant in 1990. In 1992 they expanded it because they could not handle the crowds. In 1994 they went to full dinners and served the delicious dishes that have made them world famous. In fact they were recruited more than once to be at the Old Incahoots building, but they have been happy at the Griffin building on the border of Helena.
They are open Wednesday through Saturday for Dinner only and you will not find this quality of food in Hoover or Vestavia Hills. I got the order to go but even at home it was amazing. A meal to feed my son and I was around $30 which is cheaper than some of those lesser places like Firebirds and Outback. They have shown their secret recipes at the Helena Market Days but I need to video tape it so I can make those perfect crab cakes.
