The 2nd Day of the Rest of the Year

School's Back
Get ready for the return of the school traffic patterns. Shelby County Schools start back today, which means more cars on the road and children running across streets in the afternoon, so keep your eyes open. Also the news reported a stat that  1 out of 16 people have the Flu (or had) in Alabama so be prepared because we are not out of this mess yet.

Recycle Pickup
If you signed up for recycling, they are running one day behind due to the holidays but will be back on schedule next week.Don't forget, if you are on facebook, the city has a page with update like this at: City Of Helena

Cartoon Shop
Local Helena Artist Samuel Kent who is known for his lunchbox doodles blog, now has an online shop where you can purchase those doodles. Samuel, originally, started creating his doodles on small cards and placing them in his child lunchbox to bring a smile. You can check it out on the Etsy website.
Warehouse Racing
The indoor remote control Warehouse Racetrack in Helena has posted their winners of the tournament. Here are the winners from one race from their Facebook page:
TNT 1/10 Buggy: 1st: Brad Marszalek 2nd: Mark Mark Marszalek and 3rd: Rusty Brooks. TQ: Mark Marszalek.

Night on the Town
I bought my Night on the Town tickets to support the Helena Athletic Association.   The purpose of the event is to raise money for Helena’s student athletic programs. It will be in the Hog Room, at Harley Davidson Location on 119 and will be on Feb 16th from 6pm- Midnight. The price include dinner, dancing and the drawdown event with includes large donated prizes including $5,000. The Perry Combovers Band is also performing. You do not need to be present to win if you just want to help out.

I know it is high but you could spend that much is a nice restaurant. Even better that it is for a good cause and it  will be a wonderful date night. They will be selling some tonight at the HMS Cafeteria during the Athletic Parent meeting 6:30pm that is for all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade athletics. For more info: http://www.helenaathleticassociation.org

Rescued Dog
Rhonda was with her son and his friends when they rescued this dog (right) earlier. She saw someone stop their car and drop the dog in Bridlewood/Plantation South then drive off. No idea why the person would do this, was it the owner or someone else? It is bizarre. Rhonda is trying to find the dog a new home. If you are the owner (and wondering where it went) or if you would like to be on the list to adopt then contact Two by Two Rescue in Helena.

Also Kristi found this gentleman (left) in Dearing downs last night. If you are the owner, contact me and I will pass your information over to Kristi
