After a break, the repaving of 261 has returned. They are doing it during the night time so be aware there are some delays between 10pm-6am. The longest I had to wait was 5 minutes but it seemed longer. The repaving will continue up to the intersection. No timeline was given for completion.
There will be a work day for Parks and Recreation committee. You can meet at the Sports Complex at 10am. This is your chance to learn more about the parks and help fix problems. Show up for an hour or stay all day. They will appreciate any help they get.
Also a shout out to Robbie Howerton who is helping me with the waterfall webcam and Matt Bishop for hosting it at the Depot. Jack Gray came in and did the wiring for it this week. Also Jack Gray and Billy repaired the broken windows at the Caboose on their own dime. All of you have no idea how much I think of you for giving up your time to make things better. It's what makes Helena special!

You probably saw the Riverwoods HOA story on TV. I followed up with McKay Management. They have been hired to manage the neighborhood. They shared some information.
Brad Sanford is coming in to McKay to inspect the Riverwoods HOA records. Everything except accounts receivable is available for inspection by the members. They don’t provide accounts receivable because we keep copies of homeowner’s checks and they are not going to allow people access to checking account numbers.
They also said shared that the State of Alabama is examine issues with all the community association in the State. “There is a Governor’s Task Force to look at governance of community associations that has been meeting over the last couple of years. Tracey Arnold is the Committee’s Clerk. Also the Alabama Law Institute (ALI) is working on revising the Condominium Act. The Alabama Chapter of CAI has a Legislative Committee (LAC) that is active in providing information to Legislators and committees on best practices from other states through CAI National. Elbert Boothby with Boothby Realty is the chair of the Alabama LAC.
CAI also advocates for legislative and regulatory policies that support responsible governance and effective management. In addition, state Legislative Action Committees represents CAI members before state legislatures and agencies on issues such as assessment collection, foreclosure, and construction defects”.
Laura Joseph passed this along. Next year they will have new Alabama House District seat after the reapportionment. I was disappointed to see us Helena split up again. The picture above show how Old Cahaba will fit into it. In fact, I think that Helena is divide up three ways. So 2014 will be an important voting year for us because theses positions will affect what type of funding we get as a city.

I wanted to say goodbye to long time reader Ron Scott who passed away on Sunday. His funeral is today for family and close friend and sadly I can’t say I was either. We were a virtual friends. We first started exchanging emails back in 2008 with gnome pictures. When I heard about him, I went back through all my emails with him. He was always had something nice to say.
