New Year Eve in Helena

Goodbye 2015
2015 was a rough year in my personal health and I hope that 2016 will be a year of healing. Thank you everyone for your help during this time and tolerant of the blog postings. 2015 has been an amazing year for Helena I will would like to count down the top 5 most read events on the blog as well as list a timeline of 2015 events for the City. First the garbage schedule for this holiday:

Garbage and recycling schedule for the week of 12/28/2015 through 1/01/2016. Normal garbage and recycling pick up will continue Monday through Thursday and all Friday garbage and recycling customers will be picked up on Saturday, January 2, 2016.

Mayors, Fire Trucks and Plastic Pools
ABC focuses for Successful cities and set up a live show in Old Town Helena which include the Mayors of Pelham, Alabaster and Helena. The show spotlight the best of the area and even included a live cooking demonstration from the Coal Yard.

 It was a huge moment to show off Helena to the entire State. It was also announced the new Mayor trophy where Helena Pelham would play each other pre-season in a friendly rivalry.

Also the post announced the ribbon cutting of  OnMark Physical Therapy and the times of interstate closing. Two by Two was requesting kiddie pool donations and the City Council discusses a Door to Door solicitation ordinance. LINK


Independence Weekend


This post featured the amazing story of Glover Pugh and his story as a war hero which includes a Bronze Star, Blue Badge, Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart medal.

The post continues to tell all exciting that were happening to celebrate Independence Week in Helena which included live music, food and even a dunkin booth.

Plus it detailed how the community came together to raise money for Billy Hinds! LINK


Wash, Friday Valentines and Hobos in Helena
This post answer the question of what was going to be built next to Taco Bell? The land had been cleared and there was a lot of speculation. It announced that Wash it Off was coming and even including the building design. The post also shared that First Fridays were returning to Old Town which was exciting and how to register. It also gave information for a Women's Safety Course and how you could donate cards for Jesse's place. Finally, after being shown symbols while hiking in Helena, I posted the Hobo secret symbols that you can use to translate rock or chalk symbols near railroads. LINK

Glow and Waste
This post announced the winners of the Helena Glow Run and Helena Women Volleyball victories. The biggest part dealt with why Helena's Utility Board was going to spend $8 million dollars to improve their Waste Water facilities.


Jacks, Calendar, and Historic Twins
With over 2,000 unique readers and zillion views this is the most popular post in Helena. The City Council voted to give $40,000 to the schools in Helena. Jack's first announced they will build their newest store in Helena before the end of the year. Two by Two will have a pet photo contest for a new calendar. Ronald Salesberry was awarded Region East officer recruiter of the year. The Mayor and Council deals with abandoned property and new paving projects.Finally Mindy  Kirkland discovered her son had a uncanny twin in one of the historic photos at the Helena Museum.

Hey Trisha, it was an vote of the school system and the public. In the finals it was Huskies vs Hawks. Original the Wildcats and Miner were considered
